Go down. Another follows. Go down again. The cave on the left holds nothing of interest, so don't bother. All it has is two narrow walkways and its easy to mistime your step and fall.
Instead, follow the path, killing the Cragspider on the way. Kill a second Cragspider, then climb some more ladders downwards. There's two more Cragspiders down there - during my playthrough they managed to leap off the cliff and didn't engage me, but if they do, try to kill them quickly. There's also a Blowdart Sniper shooting arrows at you from the right, so sprint up the ramp and kill him dead. Watch out at this point, as Giant Mosquitos might also attack. It'll also contain the sword Falchion.
From here head down another ladder back on the main path and follow the path around, killing a multitude of Cragspiders and Giant Mosquitoes. You've now arrived at the Swamp, and we've caught up with the entrance from New Londo section of this guide. Regardless of which route you've taken your aim now should be to get to the nearest Bonfire. If you haven't already, the time is now right to equip anything that resists poison.
Blighttown is made up of several safe inlets amidst a dangerous poisonous swamp. If you step into the swamp, your poison meter will start to build instantly - a feat that can be resisted by using poison-resistant equipment. Depending on which route you've taken you'll be in a slightly different place.
If you've got full health at this point, the honestly easiest way to get to the Bonfire is to just equip the Rusted Iron Ring and slog it through the water. To get to the Bonfire, head either right if you've come from The Depths or left if you've come from New Londo. As you go, hug the large wall, following it along until you find an archway.
Head inside and you'll find the Bonfire just waiting to be rested at. This will also cure your poison status, should you be inflicted with it. If you manage to defeat her, you won't be dead, and she'll also be summonable just before you go to fight this areas' boss. If you head further down the tunnel where the Bonfire is you'll find a shallow empty pool with a chest in it. Open this to find a valuable Dragon Scale. You now have a choice - do you want to find some useful items in the swamp, or do you want to rush on ahead to the boss?
The latter option seems the easiest, true, but searching the swamp is bound to find you some good stuff isn't it? If you do want to search the swamp, equip armour that allows you to move quickly the Shadow set is the most useful as it allows you to resist poison and is relatively weightless and equip a shield such as the Spider shield to boost you poison resistance again.
You'll also want to equip the Rusted Iron Ring, which will allow you to move much faster in the swamp. If you aren't interested in a poison-filled slog through murky water, skip ahead to the next section.
From the Bonfire, head out through the archway and left onto a safe area. From here, you'll have to deal with at least one Cragspider and a multitude of respawning Giant Mosquitos, so kill any that attack, then prepare yourself for a dash.
Right at the end of this path there is a corpse. Sprint towards it as fast as you can, search it for a Large Soul of a Proud Knight then sprint back to the safe inlet you were just standing on.
You should just make it - if not, simply head back to the Bonfire to remove your poison status. The mosquitos will eventually stop coming, but there's a hell of a lot of them. Just stay on the first inlet and put them all down, but watch out for them coming from both the left and the right. With that done, your aim is to head for a teeny tiny inlet just slightly to the left and straight ahead from the bonfire.
So basically head out, turn left, and aim for the area where there's a large pillar. From here, take a deep breath then plunge forwards through the murk to another large pillar directly across. You'll probably draw the attention of a Cragspider at this point, so put it down.
When it's dead, head around the side of the pillar, following the dry land along. You'll see a corpse in the distance - hop across the brief swamp area and search the corpse for a Large Soul of a Proud Knight. Turn around. See that little inlet? Go to it. From here, move to the next inlet directly across from you there's a bunch of grass to the left of it. Follow the wall around to the left and you'll eventually come to a swampy area. See how the corner of the wall kinda bends around?
This useful armor set is even more resistant to poison than the Shadow Armor, so equip it if you wish. From here, head back to where you found the Large Soul of a Proud Knight. This time, go left, following the wall around. You'll cross a brief swampy area then end up on another inlet with a large collection of collapsed rocks on it. Keep following it round, hugging the wall. Cross another brief swamp area and keep hugging that wall. Eventually you'll come to an area where a new enemy - the Giant Leech - will be attracted by your presence.
These giant slugs are very much the Slimes of the Depths - quite hard to hit, and very annoying when they hit. They're weak to lightning, so equip a relevant weapon if you've got one. Your next step is a bit trickier - from where you fought the leech, look out over the swamp, facing diagonally to the right. Although you can't see it, there's another small inlet out there.
Take a deep breath and plunge into the water, charging towards the inlet. You should make it in time with good poison resistant armor equipped. Over here are three more Giant Leeches. Stick to dry ground and put them down one by one. Your next step is to then turn around and charge straight forwards to yet another safe inlet.
Once you're there, follow it round and you'll see another Giant Leech. Let it squelch towards you, then kill it. There's two more leeches to kill directly ahead, so kill them too. This next area is mostly swamp, and is absolutely brimming with leeches. The easiest way to dispatch them is using ranged equipment, but if that's not your forte charge into the swamp instead to attract the attention of at least two of them before charging back to dry land.
Kill, rinse and repeat. Be wary though - one of the leeches is hiding behind a wall to the right. When all of the nearby leeches are dead, head across the swamp to the opposite inlet with a glowing corpse. Search it for a Large Titanite Shard. If you're lucky, the leeches might drop these too. From here, head around the corner, following the dry land. You'll eventually come to three leeches guarding a glowing item out in the swamp.
Kill them, run out, and return to dry land with the weapon Server. This rare weapon will restore HP to you every time you land a hit on an enemy, so may be worth checking out. This area holds naught else of interest, so head back to where you entered. From here, look straight ahead. See that inlet you were standing on earlier where you found the first Giant Leech? Run over to that. When you're there, let your poison gauge deplete then run straight ahead to another inlet.
From here, look to the right. See that large tree branch sticking out of the swamp? That's something you can stand on. We don't want that though, so look to the left of the branch to see another inlet to run to. Do so. How do you open the door in Blighttown? What do I do after Blighttown? You can also progress to The Great Hollow and subsequently Ash Lake from here, although you don't need to access either of these areas as part of the main quest. The entrance to Blighttown can be found in the same room as Domhnall of Zena.
Acquire the key to unlock Blighttown by defeating the boss of the Depths : the Gaping Dragon. This path can be taken only after killing the Taurus Demon. This path can be used right after entering from the Valley of Drakes entrance. Down We Go - From the big doors in Depths , make your way proceed to the left side of the gargantuan hole to find a ladder, followed by some more ladders.
At the bottom, a club-wielding Infested Barbarian will welcome you, appropriately. You can climb back up the ladder if you want to deal with him at range.
Before proceeding, you will notice a lower level to your right with three Infested Ghouls hanging out below. If they spot you, there is a ladder at the far back to the right that will allow them to come get you. Keep to the left for the time being, to avoid getting spotted by them. First you need to deal with the two more Infested Barbarians ahead Tip: It's possible to lure the other Barbarians back to where you entered the area.
If you then go up the first ladder and to the other side of the platform where below you will be beyond the edge of the lower platform; the Infested Barbarians will try to attack you from below, and fall to their death. That's Not A Bee Sting - Once the Barbarians are gone, proceed to encounter one Infested Ghoul initially, then two more after, and beware of the Blowdart Sniper next to the ladder at the far right Tip: K eep your Spider Shield handy to avoid going toxic; engage him after you dispose of the three Infested Ghouls , unless you are confident with your own sniping abilities.
Lure them, one at a time, away from the line of fire of the sniper NOTE : They may get stuck behind the wall in the structure ahead, so you may need to go to them once they are there. Once they're dealt with, advance to the ladder and take out the Blowdart Sniper. Down the ladder there should be three more Infested Ghouls , if you haven't already aggravated them.
After disposing of them, make your way to the end of the wooden structure on the left for a Soul of a Proud Knight. Wonky Places - Head back up to the overhead structure and continue onward to find two small bridges. The first one on your right is a wobbly bridge that will sway from side-to-side as you cross it, there are a few of these in the upper parts of Blighttown and a general rule of thumb for crossing them is to stand still when they start moving.
The other bridge just after the first leads to the same area, however this bridge is stationary. However if you continue to the left, on the platform you are currently on, until you reach the edge, you will find a corpse with an item on a lower platform across a gap; the item is a cool weapon and the jump provides a quick way to the bonfire - but the risk at this point is too high.
The best thing to do is come back when you've reached already reached the bonfire. On your right, you may notice an Infested Ghoul with its back to you, if you haven't already triggered it, deal with it then proceed to cross the stationary bridge noted earlier and make your way down the ladder.
To your right you'll see a corpse with an item at the bottom of a short drop; dropping down to it will cause you to fall through the floor to a lower level.
So instead, use the ramp on the left that leads down and pick-up a Large Soul of a Nameless Soldier from the corpse. Safe Space - Turn around to continue to another narrow walkway ahead leading to two more Infested Ghouls on the right: the first one is trapped in a vase and the other is at the end of the platform with it's back to you, as most enemies, you should deal with them right away unless told otherwise.
Make your way down the ladder, to the left of the walkway, continue leftwards still facing the ladder to find the bonfire. To the right of the ladder there are two Flaming Attack Dogs but they will not notice you if you steer clear from the right.
Hot Dogs - Continue past the bonfire to find a descending ladder , at the end of the path, with two Infested Ghouls waiting below. Clear them and proceed under the platform to find three Blooming Purple Moss Clumps , on a suspended walkway. Head up the ramp and continue to the left over another wobbly bridge , take the ramp on the left to confront two Flaming Attack Dogs. Once you reach the bottom of the short ramp, turn and go around the ramp to find a narrow path just to your left - follow it to find a Humanity item.
Leap of Faith Cool Weapon - Remember we found a cool weapon we said we were going to jump to later? Hit the bonfire before attempting this jump to ensure you don't have to venture all the way through this hell-hole again, should your attempt be unsuccessful. Backtrack to tricky jump area just past where you met the first Blowdart Sniper.
You will notice a beam sticking out of the edge - you need to take off on this beam. Missing this jump will land you in the area just below the bonfire, close to the two Flaming Attack Dogs and the Humanity , if you haven't cleared it or used the bonfire -the fall itself for missing the jump shouldn't kill you, so if you think you may miss it, clearing out the area beneath is a good call Tip : Removing your armor will make you lighter and improve your odds.
Make the leap to be rewarded with Iaito across the gap. Facing away from the jump spot, drop down right to go back to the bonfire again. HINT : If you use the bonfire, you may want to consider backtracking a little bit to dispose of a few enemies you encountered before - the last thing you want is to be attacked from behind. Ninja Please - From the bonfire , head towards and up the ladder you initially came from, where the Infested Ghoul trapped in a vase.
At the end this platform, you can drop down to one below on the right. On your left, you should spot a corpse with a Soul of a Proud Knight. Follow the new found platform to the back until you reach a ladder you can climb to find another corpse with Shadow Set great for poison resistance. Drop down on the left to find another Soul of a Proud Knight.
Eagle Shield - Head back and drop down next to the big torch. Beware of the Blowdart Sniper on the far right and Flaming Attack Dogs sometimes the dogs are already dead at this point due to falling on the brick bridge. Lure the dogs and the Infested Ghoul away from the line of sight of the sniper, and dispatch them. Run across the bridge and turn right into the wooden platform where you will be confronted by two more ghouls.
Glorified Flea Slayer - Keep progressing until you see the Parasitic Wall Hugger below on your right and take the ladder down. There will be a ladder in front of you and one to the right. Both will have an Infested Ghoul coming up them at some point, so be ready. You will find a corpse on the first level down with a Soul of a Proud Knight. Take the ladder on the right and kill the ghoul hiding down there.
Continue along the path to find another Infested Ghoul around the corner ,at the end of the wooden walkway. You'll see a corpse to your right with the Eagle Shield at the end of a stone walkway. Make your way back up the ladder and take the other ladder down this time.
